Spring is just around the corner and with that comes leprechaun, Easter bunnies, and oh yes, color in our wardrobes! I love bright dresses, they make such a statement and make you stand out from the sea of navy, black and navy blue dresses at any occasion you attend.

Usually at the end of a rainbow you find a pot of gold, but in this blog you find colorful dresses, with shoes to match. Word of caution for when you wear a statement color, keep the shoes simple and neutral with black, grey or nude heels/flats.

LBD’s to lust for

I turn to a LBD (little black dress) for any special occasion. You can change its look with many accessories, belts, jewelry, scarfs; many looks for little dough. These three are found under $75 and are the perfect canvas to dress up or down for your next wedding, dinner party, night out, or maybe even award show…hey if Julia Roberts can pull off the LBD at the Golden Globes , all the power to her!

The first is the trendy one shoulder from Fredflare.com for $50 while the strapless black dress is from Forever21.com for $25 while this more conservative approach to a LBD from Macy’s is on sale for $70. I found them for you so all you have to do is accessorize!

The nautical look seems to always come back in style this time of year. I always know spring is around the corner when the navy blue stripes start popping up in all the magazines and on the celebs. Even though I love this look, the only word of caution is to avoid looking like your hitting the high seas.

Pairing that striped tee or sweater with classic pieces make you look like a fashionista, not first mate. Below, a favorite look of mine, I paired a striped sweater with wide leg dark wash jeans and gray pumps. Add silver details in the necklace and watch and you have a look that walked out of the pages of InStlye, if I must say so myself.

Other alternative looks for the spring and summer could be cropped jeans with navy converse sneakers, white shorts or a pencil skirt with the gray pumps or denim shorts for a super casual look. These are my trendy classic ideas but feel free to share your nautical tricks!

In Love With This Leather

Keeping up with the fast changing trends can really be a challenge for your wallet these days. I mean who wants to spend money on MC Hammer pants and shoulder padded jackets? Those went out of style for a reason people, and will go back out of style just as fast.

One new trend that is hard to find a great piece for is leather. Trying to look like a million bucks without driving a Harley or spending $600 has proven to be a challenge in my search for the perfect leather jacket. Pleather looks too fake and a hooded jacket, to me, is less than fashion forward. I almost gave up my search until I stumbled upon the perfect leather motorcycle jacket on the 80′s Purple website.

Priced at a cool $75, this is an affordable jacket that is tabloid worthy. It also varies with taste, but I love that it is not black but more of a gray, that way it matches all my clothes in my closet.

This Urban Outfitters dress is new to their collection and follows the popular trend of the high waisted skirt. This is one of my favorite trends because of their style and comfort. I finally can wear a skirt and look chic not slutty! I especially like this look because you can wear it to work and look like a fashionista in the summer and then pair it with black tights and boots for the winter. A dress that will take me into two seasons and less than $75 is already on my “to buy” list.

Forever 21 might be known for its cheap but trendy clothing, but some of their recent jewelry are look a likes and less expensive versions of JCrew’s. You probably can tell the difference between the brands because of the picture quality, but they look so similar, why pay for higher price tag? The one from JCrew is on sale for $70 while Forever 21′s version retails for $9. This one is a no brainer. And if you don’t like Forever 21′s bow, just spend $5 at Micheals for a silk ribbon instead.

The next item is JCrew’s bubble jewelry. These two necklaces, although not exact look a likes, achieve the same look for a lot less. The one on the left retails for about $150 while the one on the right sells for $15. For the amount of money you save, you could buy a new dress to go with your look a like purchase!

Gladiator sandals, although very “in” right now, have to be done right or people will start to wonder what is going on with your feet and your style.

These Gladiators by CocoBelle on ShopBop are only $50, and used to be $165! This is a fabulous deal! I actually saw someone wearing these shoes where I work ( a very comfortable, yet fashionable environment) and I had to have them. They made her look so in style, and look great with jeans or a dress.

Their allure was their monotone color, rather than those hideous multicolor and studded shoes, i.e. Steve Madden. These are the perfect gladiator looking show while still upholding your own classy, fashionable look.

Forget the guy, take his sweater. The best, yet comfortable and fashionable item since UGG boots, the boyfriend sweater, cardigan, or however you refer to it is by far the coziest fashion this year.

Even though guys may not have a lot of things we want to steal from them, except the sexy white button down, this style is here to stay.

Referred to as the boyfriend cardigan, this item makes any woman look up to date with the trends while feeling casual and relaxed. JCrew, known for its laid back classic style has this must have piece ON SALE! For around $30 this item can dress down a work dress, compliment a tight skirt, dress up a plain tank top or look chic with skinny jeans.

I think every girl needs a black shoe. It goes with almost every outfit and is a staple for going out on the town. I recommend a closed toe shoe so it would last the whole year, not just summer. I am currently in LOVE with Jessica Simpson shoes. If you are not a fan, stop here, but if you are I have a classic shoe that you should consider adding to your wardrobe.

Under $100 and it is worth every penny

This shoe is a perfect evening shoe and even to work if you are young and can tolerate pain. But for evening purposes, this shoe adds great heat and doesn’t give off that platform stripper look, no offense ladies. These shoes are great for a hot date, a wedding or a girls night out. Look at it this way, even though this shoe is not the famed Louboutin, as seen below, for its price and shape, the Jessica Simpson version acts as a close cousin!

Found: cute dresses with low pricetags

I recently stumbled upon this website, and found many cute clothes that look expensive but are super affordable. To help you paint the picture, ASOS reminds me of a nicer and a little more expensive Forever 21. I especially love their dresses and their outlet section of the site. A great feature that most of the clothes have are actual runway video of the outfit. This helped me to see how the outfit moved in real life.

Word to the wise while shopping, make sure to change the currency to match what you would be paying with. Also, ASOS uses European sizes, so you would have to convert. Here are currently two of my favorites, but take a look at it yourself!
